I used to hate blenders - you lug it off the top shelf once every few months, endure the high-pitched whine as the motor stalls and the ice cubes in your adult beverage form a shelf just above the blades, cram the whole thing in the dishwasher, only to realize the rubber ring has ended up in the bottom in the very back. But this blender is awesome. You'll love it and use it so much you'll leave it on the counter instead of on the shelf. It's not whisper quiet or anything, but it doesn't scare the neighbo

the product arrived in an inner cardboard box and and outer cardboard box, between the two was a bit of wadded paper for padding. inside the inner box the product pieces were all secured between two large fitted styrofoam pieces. the tamper was broken obviously from the torque of being held between the two pieces of styrofoam.
when i asked amazon.com to please replace the tamper they required me to return the entire blender even though they sell tampers separately. the blender weighs 14#. the

I gave this item one star because I feel in the discription it should be stated that the co does not recommend the container/blade be put in the dishwasher.
I realize they state in the booklet that came with it that cleaning it by their method is just like a dishwasher.
However I prefer to take a blender container apart and hand wash it after every use so I can take a close look at it and make sure it is really clean.
They recommend taking the blade off only if you really have too, and

I was hesitant when I saw the price of this blender. But it's worked perfectly now for over a year and I'm happy. It is very strong and blends anything you throw in it. Sometimes an air bubble will be created when you don't have enough liquid in the blender along with ice or frozen fruit but that is quickly cured by adding just a little more water or what ever. I love this and have at lease one smoothie a day or more. I've made ice cream in it too. Highly recommend. Four stars because of that air bubb

I bought this because I had heard about raw soups and this was the blender to get. Plus all the reviews made it seem like it was a great buy.
First I was disappointed that I had to cut up all the vegetables. I guess after seeing all the PR about how powerful this blender is, I just assumed it would eat up the vegetables whole. I had actually put everything in whole, turned on the machine and nothing happened. The blades wouldn't cut through the whole vegs. I then removed everything, chopped it

This is a tale of two cities. The Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hide. I LOVE the smoothies this thing makes but with one giant caveat. It has trouble getting the tornado going to pull everything toward the blades. Try as I might, I cannot find the right combination that allows me one and done with hitting the "2" smoothie button. In all instances I've had to take the container off of the unit and shake or manually stir the contents in hope of priming the pump. I think the minimum number of times I've hit the smo

I'm new to being vegan, and even newer to making green smoothies. It was tough for me to shell out the dough for an appliance as common as a blender, especially when I already own a magic bullet and love it, but after receiving it, I understand why it costs what it does and why it's worth the money.
As I said, I already own a magic bullet, which I still love for what it can do...easy cleaning, and it does pretty good job of pureeing, except, when it comes to veggies or flax seeds the bullet wi

I have owned this for over a year now, and despite all the rah rah rah, it is just a blender. It is a good blender but it will do for you what any other blender will do. Kitchen aid has better attachments for most anything you would want to attach, and most people own a kitchen aid so you would probably put an attachment on that instead of the vita-mix. Also this model doesn't have a variable speed so its either high/low, on/off. Well made but it can still get stuck with a lot of frozen berries etc...

We have a Vita Mix, the 5000 which is similar to the 4500, and it has been malfunctioning on and off since the first week. The product is great when it works, but when it doesn't I sure don't feel like it was worth almost $400.
Vita Mix customer "service" is a joke. The first time we called we were told both "you aren't using the product correctly" and "it is working the way it should". Hard for me to beleive that a $400 blender should thermally trip off and stay off for 20 minutes when chopping ice or frozen fruit for smoothies --- it's kinda what it was purchased for!
The second attempt at "service" we were told that the drive gear was probably bad, they would ship the part and I would have to replace it. I was told I could NOT return the item until this had been tried. Again, for $400, I don't expect to be servicing my own appliances.

The Breville 800BLXL is probably the best blender on the market, and I have tried several that are more expensive, and several that are cheaper. Don't be fouled by its only having 2 speeds, it does a better job then any multi-speed blender I have ever seen. I use it every day, its easy to clean and very powerful.

I have now used this blender for approximately a month and am not entirely sold on it. It does have plenty of power but when in the normal operating mode it decides to surge on and off for no apparent reason. I am curious if others have experienced this phenomenon. It is definitely up to the task of ice crushing, blending and smoothie making but this surging is quite annoying.

I enjoyed the power and performance of this blender while it lasted. After 12 months, the blades base on the pitcher rusted. William Sonoma replaced the entire unit, but 18 months later the rust returned. Unfortunately, this time the blades base rusted frozen and burned up the motor.
