Who was behind one of the most beneficial kitchen appliances?

The man responsible for inventing the blender is Stephen Poplawski. The year was 1922 and Mr. Poplawski created his new appliance to help make soda fountain drinks. Poplawski’s creative idea was to place a spinning blade at the bottom of a container to be able to chop, grind and puree foods.

Fred Osius extended Poplawski’s original idea. In 1935, Osius made modifications and improvements to the original blender and engaged the financial support of Fred Waring to introduce the new and improved blender. Waring spent several years and many thousands of dollars to have the gadget redesigned. In 1937, Waring introduced his version of the blender and renamed it the Miracle Blender.

Waring’s company produced the Miracle Blender and sold it to hotels and restaurants. Waring’s company ultimately became known as the Waring Company which today still produces blenders under the Waring Pro blender name. The blender has undergone many improvements and modifications since it was originally designed almost 90 years ago. However, one fact has not changed. The blender is a utilitarian, functional kitchen appliance makes food and drink preparation very easy.
