Follow these ideas and tips when using a
handheld blender, also known as immersion or stick blenders:
- Avoid The Splash - Do not press the hand blender’s power button on until you place the blender into the container and mixture being blended. Likewise, turn the immersion blender off before taking the blender out of the mixture.
- Remove From Heat - Blending a mixture in a pan on the stove? Remove the pan from the heating element before inserting the handheld blender. This will protect your blender, and you, from the heat.
- Room To Rise - When blending, allow for some room in
the container for the Mixture’s froth and bubbles to rise. No need to spill the ingredients out of the container.
- Avoid Hard Items - Before mixing, make sure to remove hard items like fruit
pits or seeds or bones. Also stick blenders are not designed for chopping coffee beans or hard spices like nutmeg and ginger. All of these hard items could cause damage to the blender&rsquo’s blades.
- Angle It In - Do not hold the blender in a straight line. Hold the immersion blender at an angle and move the unit up and down inside the container. Do not bang the blender on the bottom of the container.
.
- Watch The Cord - Make sure the stick blender’s cord is not draped over a heating element or otherwise in the way of your cooking preparations.
- No Soaking - When not in use, do not leave the immersion blender sitting in the ingredients or mixture inside the pan or container.
